We
are a happy and friendly group who meet
for gentle
exercise,
and have fun doing it.
Our
group started out under the umbrella of a Government sponsored
scheme called the Healthy Communities Collaborative which is now
administered in Northampton by Age Concern.
Initially
the aim of the Collaborative was to drastically reduce the
number
of falls suffered by elderly people. It was a very
successful scheme
and far exceeded the targets set by the
Government.
One
of the initiatives tried was short courses of exercise classes
aimed
at improving mobility, building confidence, and improving
balance.
They
proved to be so enjoyable that when the 'taster' sessions
finished
we arranged to continue the classes, and Fitness, Fun
and Friendship
was born.
From
small beginnings we now average attendances in the mid twenties
in number, and would be delighted to welcome you should you wish
to give us a try.
